About This Role

The Nurse Extern Float Pool PRN will gain hands-on experience by assisting in patient care, ensuring comfort and hygiene, and performing nursing tasks while progressing through their nursing program. This role is crucial for delivering compassionate care and building foundational skills for advanced responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential care for patients by helping with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living), checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene
• Perform nursing tasks like wound care, catheter care, collecting specimens, and other basic procedures as experience and competency grow
• Document care accurately and communicate timely updates with the nursing team to keep patient care seamless and coordinated
• Help patients and families understand their care plans and offer guidance for their health and recovery
• Keep patient areas clean and safe by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and maintaining an organized environment
• Champion growth and enhance patient care by engaging in learning opportunities, sharing ideas to improve care, and partnering with a supervisor or preceptor to build a personal career development plan

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an accredited ADN or BSN nursing program

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited ADN or BSN nursing program

• Completed foundation, fundamental or Med Surg I clinical
