Nurse Assistant

About This Role

This Nurse Assistant position focuses on improving patient care quality by performing direct, basic patient care activities under the guidance of a Registered Nurse at St. Mary Medical Center.

Responsibilities

• Perform direct and indirect patient care activities following RN instructions, physician orders, policies, procedures, and regulations
• Obtain supplies from designated supply rooms to assure patient rooms are ready for patient admission and cleared when patient discharged/transferred
• Feed patients, knowing dysphasia precautions and calculating and recording intake and output
• Collect specimens including urine (routine, clean catch, foley), stools for c-diff, etc.
• Apply heat and cold packs, ace wraps, slings, binders, protective devices, and orthopedic devices
• Participate in hourly rounding programs and schedules to ensure patient safety and reduce patient harm
• Observe for environmental safety, inform patient and family on safety precautions, turn and reposition patients
• Preemptively assist with toileting activities and address personal needs
• Seek assistance of the Nurse Manager or designee for conflict resolution

Requirements

• High School Graduate/Equivalent

Qualifications

• High School Graduate/Equivalent required

Nice to Have

• PA Nurse Aide Registry (CNA) OR completed a minimum of one semester of clinical rotations in an accredited nursing program
