About This Role

The Nurse Aide II provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, assisting with essential daily activities and maintaining a safe patient environment at Michigan Medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain vital signs, temperature, height/length, weight, oxygen saturation and pain scores, reporting abnormal values to RN
  • Observe, monitor and report the overt physical condition of assigned patient(s)
  • Measure and record intake and output
  • Assist patients with, or administer routine personal hygiene including baths, oral care, skin care
  • Provide toileting/bedpan/urinal; remove/empty foley catheters; weigh diapers
  • Perform post-mortem care and transport deceased patients to the morgue/pathology
  • Stock supplies and equipment in patient care spaces
  • Set up patient rooms for admission or procedure
  • Clean, pack, sterilize and store instruments
  • Document care provided

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Ability to read and write
  • Minimum of 6 months recent experience in a patient care setting OR Junior status in an accredited BSN program OR Second year in an accredited ADN program

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Minimum of 6 months recent experience in a patient care setting OR junior status in an accredited BSN program OR second year in an accredited ADN program

Nice to Have

  • Certification as a Nurse Aide or Medical Assistant
  • Recent experience in an acute care inpatient setting
  • Basic computer skills
