The Nurse Aide II provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, assisting with essential daily activities and maintaining a safe patient environment at Michigan Medicine.
Responsibilities
- Obtain vital signs, temperature, height/length, weight, oxygen saturation and pain scores, reporting abnormal values to RN
- Observe, monitor and report the overt physical condition of assigned patient(s)
- Measure and record intake and output
- Assist patients with, or administer routine personal hygiene including baths, oral care, skin care
- Provide toileting/bedpan/urinal; remove/empty foley catheters; weigh diapers
- Perform post-mortem care and transport deceased patients to the morgue/pathology
- Stock supplies and equipment in patient care spaces
- Set up patient rooms for admission or procedure
- Clean, pack, sterilize and store instruments
- Document care provided
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent
- Ability to read and write
- Minimum of 6 months recent experience in a patient care setting OR Junior status in an accredited BSN program OR Second year in an accredited ADN program
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent
- Minimum of 6 months recent experience in a patient care setting OR junior status in an accredited BSN program OR second year in an accredited ADN program
Nice to Have
- Certification as a Nurse Aide or Medical Assistant
- Recent experience in an acute care inpatient setting
- Basic computer skills
