About This Role

This role involves construction inspection and materials testing for large highway and bridge projects in Wisconsin, ensuring compliance with plans and specifications. The Construction Rep I will maintain daily logs, review discrepancies, and collaborate with the team and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Perform office management engineer work including preparing meeting agendas and minutes, and tracking RFIs, submittals, and pay estimates.
  • Assist with construction fieldwork tasks to ensure conformance to plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Coordinate and schedule quality control inspections.
  • Observe on-site material testing and coordinate testing and monitoring services.
  • Perform mathematical calculations for material quantity payments.
  • Perform basic shop drawing review and ensure procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, identifying discrepancies or conflicts.
  • Review contractor’s daily construction reports for accuracy, thoroughness, and consistency.
  • Document project progress using video and photos, and prepare reports.
  • Consult with Resident Engineer on work progress and construction problems, recommending solutions and assisting in issue resolution.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and understand plans and specifications
  • Ability to recognize, document, and escalate field issues
  • Ability to calculate pay quantities
  • Understanding of change conditions
  • Basic math skills
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and other computer skills
  • Basic understanding of document control for project documentation

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in relevant field or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field.
  • 2 years relevant experience with an Associate's degree, or new graduate with a Bachelor's degree.

  • Knowledge and experience with WisDOT highway and bridge construction
  • WisDOT Highway Technician Certification Program credentials
