About This Role

This role involves operating light and medium duty motorized equipment for campus maintenance, ensuring safe transportation services, and performing basic vehicle checks and cleaning.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate light and medium motorized vehicles to support campus transportation services.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance checks and follow all safety procedures.
  • Complete transportation logs and provide reliable, customer-focused service.
  • Operate medium- and heavy-duty commercial passenger vehicles, including shuttle buses, vans, cars, and utility carts, following assigned routes and safety protocols.
  • Provide transportation for athletic team travel, student groups, and university-sponsored activities.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report mechanical issues immediately.
  • Clean and sanitize interior passenger areas and perform restroom cleaning on buses.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws, defensive driving techniques, and university safety protocols.
  • Complete daily logs, mileage reports, fuel records, and incident reports accurately.
  • Support transportation needs for university events, ceremonies, and athletics, including working during evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Commercial Class B Driver's License in the State of Maryland with passenger endorsement and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to successfully complete university driver safety training.
  • Demonstrated experience operating motorized vehicles in a professional or structured environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Strong knowledge of safe driving practices and vehicle operation procedures.
  • Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in fast-paced or high-traffic environments.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow schedules, directions, and established procedures.
  • Commitment to safety, customer service, and teamwork.
