This role involves working as a direct care team member to serve adults with serious mental illness, support life skills development, provide therapeutic interventions, and manage clinical documentation and household tasks.
Responsibilities
- Work as a member of a direct care team serving adults with serious mental illness
- Support the development of life skills and therapeutic interventions
- Keep accurate clinical documentation
- Provide housekeeping and meal preparation
- Administer medication
- Assist clients in meeting their Activities of Daily Living (ADL)
Requirements
- Ability to work as a member of a direct care team
- Ability to support the development of life skills and therapeutic interventions
- Ability to keep accurate clinical documentation
- Ability to provide housekeeping, meal preparation, and medication administration
- Valid driver's license and safe driving record
- Ability to pass a DHS criminal background check
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as talking, listening, using hands, reaching, standing, walking, sitting, bending, stooping, climbing stairs, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 40 pounds
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science (Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Human Development) or related field OR equivalent combination of behavioral science education
- Minimum three (3) years of verifiable behavioral health experience working with individuals with behavioral health needs in a supervised setting OR Caregiving and/or mental health experience (personal or professional) is preferred for Personal Care Associate roles.
Nice to Have
- Experience working as a Direct Support Professional (DSP)
- Experience as a Residential Assistant (RA)
- Experience as a Residential Counselor
- Experience as a Skills Trainer
- Experience Caregiving for a client experiencing severe mental illness (e.g. memory care in an Assisted Living Facility)
- Bilingual or Multilingual (Spanish/English desired)
