Medication Aide

About This Role

This role provides hands-on care, physical, and emotional support to residents in a senior living community, ensuring safe medication administration and a comfortable home-like environment.

Responsibilities

• Review service plans to understand resident needs.
• Administer and observe medications and treatments for residents, adhering to the Six Rights of Medication Pass.
• Document medication administration, including refusals or missed doses.
• Maintain confidentiality of all resident medication information.
• Report all resident concerns related to medication to the Nurse and/or Health Care Coordinator (HCC).
• Restock medication carts after each medication pass.
• Assist in checking medication regardless of packaging system.
• Count all narcotics with another Medication Care Manager or Nurse each shift.
• Maintain and clean the Medication Room, med charts, and treatment carts.
• Follow refill processes for medications.
• Participate in the development and monthly updates of Service Plans.
• Take and record vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, weight, pulse, and respiration rates.
• Immediately report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, sharp sticks, and hazardous chemicals.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age

Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED

Nice to Have

• Certified Nurse’s Aid certification
• CPR Certification
• First Aid Certification
• Previous experience working with seniors
