About This Role

Perform precise laboratory testing, verify results based on scientific principles and patient physiology, and accurately interpret findings. Use technical knowledge to recognize and resolve problems in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and report all assigned tests with expected precision and accuracy
  • Obtain blood or other body fluid from patients utilizing appropriate venipuncture, capillary fingerstick or heelstick techniques with all age groups
  • Operate computer equipment and software programs essential for job functions and laboratory requirements
  • Record all required quality control results
  • Maintain, calibrate, and repair equipment with accurate service records
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities as outlined in CLIA regulations
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of supplies in the assigned area and prepare reagents or media as prescribed
  • Participate in the evaluation of new procedures, equipment, and methods
  • Set up cultures, read gram stains, and perform rapid kit testing in Microbiology
  • Accurately identify patients prior to specimen collection using two patient identifiers and label specimens in the patient's presence
  • Maintain required department confidentiality and abide by HIPPA regulations
  • Train colleagues in the section to follow established standard work practices and monitor for compliance
  • Provide competent patient care by obtaining and interpreting age-specific data and adapting procedures appropriately
  • Take an active role in personal and professional growth through education programs

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or a chemical, physical, or biological science
  • Qualifies as an MT under CLIA high complexity testing personnel qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical, or biological science degree
  • Previous experience is preferred but not required for entry-level

Certifications

MLS/MT (ASCP) registry required or completed within two years of hire (Required)
