Medical Surgical Nurse (RN)

About This Role

Provide direct patient care to adult patients experiencing general medical conditions or surgical interventions, applying nursing knowledge to assess, implement, and evaluate patient responses within an Adult Medical Surgical Unit.

Responsibilities

• Comply with ATC policies/procedures and client facility nursing policies/procedures.
• Conduct individualized patient assessment, prioritizing data collection based on individual needs.
• Perform ongoing nursing assessment as dictated by the patient’s condition and client facility’s protocols.
• Collaborate with other team members in the development, implementation, and evaluation of an individualized plan of care.
• Perform appropriate treatments and therapies as ordered by physician in an appropriate and timely fashion.
• Provide individualized patient and family teaching.
• Document patient assessments, findings, and psychosocial responses to nursing interventions.
• Initiate emergency measures according to adult and client resuscitation protocols.
• Maintain confidentiality related to patient, family, client facility and staff in accordance with HIPAA.
• Provide patient care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner considering cultural diversity and age appropriateness.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate or Baccalaureate School of Nursing
• Current and unrestricted RN nursing license in the state of practice
• One year of experience as an RN in an Adult Medical Surgical Unit in the last three years
• Current CPR at least to the BLS level
