Medical Office Specialist

About This Role

This role is responsible for handling all registration and scheduling functions for the rehabilitation department, ensuring efficient patient flow and ethical business practices. The specialist will oversee scheduling alongside other staff in the department, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to hospital policies.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient registration and scheduling functions for the rehabilitation department.
• Comply with all hospital policies and procedures, maintaining utmost confidentiality.
• Demonstrate ethical business practices and adherence to corporate compliance guidelines.
• Utilize computer/software applications required for the job.
• Schedule and reschedule patients for necessary procedures/appointments using available tools.
• Obtain demographic and payer information for scheduling and registration.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary patient scheduling and document cancellations/no-shows.
• Communicate with referring and community physicians to address patient scheduling needs.
• Manage patient correspondence and communicate with the authorization department.
• Complete the registration process for new and recurring patients and manage patient accounts.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED OR 2 years related experience and/or training
• Ability to use computer/software applications
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy medical office environment
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2+ years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
