Pharmacy Technician (PRN)

About This Role

This Pharmacy Technician role involves preparing, filling, and delivering medications within an inpatient pharmacy, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery of pharmaceutical products. It requires adherence to hospital policies and ethical practices while providing essential support to pharmacists.

Responsibilities

• Maintain utmost level of confidentiality at all times
• Adhere to hospital policies and procedures
• Assist in the preparation and/or selection of medications
• Assure all orders are prepared accurately, labeled neatly and correctly, and verified by a pharmacist
• Participate in medication cart filling and assure doses dispensed are consistent with the medication cart fill list
• Understand legal limitations of pharmacy technicians and refer problems requiring professional judgment to a pharmacist
• Correctly re-establish priorities based on workload and patient needs
• Ensure medication doses are delivered within established departmental guidelines
• Deliver medications to patient care areas and clinics, including off-site locations
• Complete medication credits and restock returned medications in a timely manner
• Answer phone calls promptly and politely
• Provide 8-hour shift coverage in the inpatient pharmacy, primarily between 6:30 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Current and valid Driver's License
• Registered with the State Board of Pharmacy

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Entry level with 0-3 months related experience and/or training

Certifications
