About This Role

The Medical Laboratory Scientist II performs waived and non-waived testing in Special Coagulation, working independently to assure accurate results for diagnosis and treatment. This role may involve day-to-day supervision of laboratory operations and personnel, including quality control, training, and inventory management.

Responsibilities

  • Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.
  • Maintain records demonstrating proficiency testing samples are tested like patient samples.
  • Adhere to quality control policies, document QC activities, calibrations, and maintenance.
  • Follow established corrective action policies when test systems perform outside acceptable levels.
  • Identify and correct problems affecting test performance or reporting, or notify appropriate supervisors immediately.
  • Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from performance specifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Medical Technology or Bachelor's Degree Laboratory Sciences with Clinical Laboratory Sciences Certificate/Diploma
  • 1-2 years lab experience
  • Medical Technologist (ASCP) certification
  • Understanding of laboratory equipment operation, maintenance, and repair
  • Ability to work independently and evaluate situations
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail and adherence to written protocols
  • Ability to perform as a team member
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Professional and effective interaction with staff, physicians, and patients
  • Basic knowledge of federal, state, and accreditation requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Medical Technology or Bachelor's Degree Laboratory Sciences and Clinical Laboratory Sciences Certificate/Diploma
  • 1-2 years of relevant lab experience.
