Medical Billing Supervisor

About This Role

The Medical Billing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the assigned billing department, ensuring maximum legitimate revenue and collections while maintaining compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure knowledge of and compliance with company policies and procedures by all staff
• Ensure all medical billing staff understand and comply with Federal, State, and local laws regarding reimbursement, collections, and compliance
• Direct and supervise medical billing staff, ensuring security of company property
• Responsible for recruiting, screening, hiring, and orienting assigned medical billing staff
• Evaluate, coach, train, and discipline assigned medical billing staff
• Develop, implement, and maintain effective scheduling for the billing department
• Ensure assigned medical billing staff maintain appropriate training, certification, and licensure
• Ensure all billing staff maintain a high level of customer service
• Maintain security and privacy of company and patient information in accordance with HIPAA
• Maintain billing and patient care records in accordance with HIPAA and document retention standards
• Resolve questions, concerns, or issues regarding billing, collections, or compliance matters
• Monitor key indicators of billing and collections effectiveness to maximize legitimate revenue

Requirements

• Knowledge of company policies and procedures
• Knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws, rules, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to reimbursement, collections, and compliance
• Ability to maintain HIPAA compliance regarding patient and company information
