About This Role

Assist physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment, promoting efficient patient flow and providing support tasks, and contributing to the successful treatment of cancer and blood disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms
  • Record patient data before each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes
  • Obtain all necessary patient records as required by the physician before treatment or procedures
  • Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed
  • Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested
  • Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician
  • Maintain all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols
  • Respond to patients’ calls as requested
  • Perform other administrative duties, typing, filing faxing reception, etc.
  • Alert nurse/physician of abnormal vitals and important patient information
  • Collect inbound meaningful use data
  • Print med list for patient review
  • Fill out disability forms
  • Schedule blood transfusions, therapeutic phlebotomies, ordering special tests (Oncotypes, Kras testing, EGFR, Myriad, Paradigm, etc.)
  • Enter orders under a provider’s direction and supervision

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent required, certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred
  • 0-5+ years as a medical assistant or nursing assistant

Nice to Have

  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants
  • Phlebotomy experience
  • Certified Medical Assistant
