About This Role

Support multiple teams in the Transplant Ambulatory Care Unit by assisting with all aspects of the solid organ transplant process, including patient care, administrative tasks, and communication with the multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Contact patients and arrange appropriate testing, referrals, or follow-up
  • Schedule appointments, complete lab orders, consult requests
  • Room patients, perform vitals, and other clinic assistive duties
  • Complete forms and assist with prior authorizations
  • Document chief complaint, vitals, height, weight during patient intake
  • Review and update MiChart as directed
  • Process prescription renewals as directed by a provider or RN
  • Schedule and coordinate diagnostic and lab testing for patients
  • Request appropriate patient records for review by physician
  • Process in basket messages through MiChart

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a team setting
  • Effective communication skills (written, verbal, IT)
  • Excellent typing, data entry, and general computer skills (Word, Excel)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written & verbal communication, conflict resolution, and customer service skills
  • Effective time management and problem-solving skills
  • Documented history of excellent punctuality and attendance

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 0-1 years of relevant experience for Medical Assistant, 1-3 years for Medical Assistant Associate

Nice to Have

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant
  • Experience working within a large complex health care setting
  • Familiarity with UMHS electronic medical record system
  • Previous experience as MA support team member for at least one year
  • Transplant experience
  • Knowledge of University policies and procedures
