Join Michigan Medicine as a Medical Assistant Associate/Assistant to perform critical clinical support tasks, coordinate patient care, and maintain medical records in various outpatient settings. This role offers opportunities to utilize surgical and procedure-based skills in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Clean wounds before treatment is administered
- Perform standard medical laboratory tests, including urinalysis
- Schedule and refer patients to appointments
- Respond to general patient inquiries regarding treatment and clinic policies and procedures
- Coordinate patient care with outside health agencies
- Obtain health status and medical history
- Maintain patient files and records
- Complete insurance forms and initiate other patient correspondence
- Arrange for the repair of clinic equipment
- Maintain stock levels and order clinic supplies
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology
- Ability to handle moderate standing/walking, lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 0-1 years of experience for Assistant level; 1-3 years for Associate level
Nice to Have
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or (RMA)
- Experience working within a large complex health care setting
- Familiarity with electronic medical records system
- Ability to walk long distances throughout the hospital daily and frequently
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work well with a team setting
- Communicates effectively and has strong accountability and diversity with multiple roles
- Demonstrated active listening, written, verbal and information technology skills
