About This Role

This role involves preparing clinic spaces, assisting providers with patient care, administering medications, and providing clinical support processes to ensure optimal patient experience and care. The Medical Assistant will participate in education and training to maintain competencies.

Responsibilities

  • Efficiently prepare and organize clinic exam and procedure rooms with appropriate equipment and supplies
  • Obtain and record accurate/pertinent intake information, including preparing medical information and reports for appointments
  • Assist the provider during patient visits with routine tasks, procedures, and specimen collection/processing
  • Prepare and administer appropriate medications using the 5 rights and by written physician order, verifying two patient identifiers
  • Provide accurate and efficient clinical support processes such as prescription refills, test results reporting, and pharmacy insurance authorization
  • Maintain current competencies and mandatory training, and attend all required clinic and hospital programs
  • Collaborate with nursing and physician staff to ensure optimal patient care

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology
  • Ability to handle moderate standing/walking, lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 0-1 years of experience for Assistant Level, 1-3 years for Associate Level.

Nice to Have

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
  • Experience working within a large complex health care setting
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records system
  • Some office experience
