About This Role

Lead, coordinate, and provide technical expertise in all quality areas for construction projects, ensuring consistency with quality policies and practices. Collaborate with project teams and subcontractors to achieve 100% compliant work.

Responsibilities

  • Develop processes and procedures with project manager, superintendents, and subcontractors to ensure 100% compliant work that exceeds expectations
  • Act as an advocate for Yates Construction, promoting quality as a core value
  • Maintain active relationships with engineers, consultants, and industry associations
  • Assist teams with developing and following project-specific quality management plans
  • Build and maintain system templates for various DFOW (Defined Feature of Work) activities
  • Participate in project meetings and conduct site visits and inspections of work in place
  • Provide training and coaching to project team members on identifying and preventing quality-related risks
  • Coordinate all QC functions as CQCM, ensuring construction scheduling is not delayed
  • Determine, communicate, and document deficiencies, ensuring timely correction (NCR Log)
  • Maintain current records providing factual evidence of required quality control activities and tests
  • Review shop drawings and submittals for conformance with project specifications and contract requirements
  • Initiate and conduct daily observations for the three-phase inspection process, documenting all results
  • Examine work areas to assure completion of required work according to contract requirements and resolve differences
  • Conduct and chair Preparatory Meetings and weekly QC meetings with internal and external stakeholders
  • Verify and document that all project materials conform to approved submittals, are handled and stored appropriately, and are acceptable for use
  • Oversee daily and weekly QC/QA reports reinforcing construction in conformance with established standards
  • Refuse unsafe work and carry out all work according to Yates Safety Procedures and Work Practices
  • Report all incidents, near hits, and hazards to management and participate in workplace inspections

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of construction experience as a part of a quality control supervision
  • Minimum of 5 years industrial and/or commercial construction experience
  • Experience with large/complex quality plan implementation
  • In-depth knowledge of Construction Standards and Best Practices
  • Working knowledge of the International Building Code
  • Knowledge and experience of diverse project types
  • Computer skills using Procore, Viewpoint, SharePoint, MS Office

Qualifications

  • An associate or undergraduate university degree or higher (preferably in Quality Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or a closely related field) is preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years construction experience in quality control supervision and 5 years industrial and/or commercial construction experience
