About This Role

Lead and coordinate all quality assurance and quality control efforts on construction projects. Develop and administer quality policies and procedures, ensuring consistent adherence to standards and exceeding expectations for compliant work.

Responsibilities

  • Work with project manager, superintendents, and subcontractors to develop processes and procedures for 100% compliant work
  • Collaborate among project team and subcontractors
  • Act as an advocate for Yates Construction, promoting quality as a core value
  • Maintain active relationships with engineers, consultants, and industry associations
  • Assist teams with developing and following project-specific quality management plans
  • Build and maintain system templates for various DFOW activities
  • Prepare DFOW for projects as required in the Quality Management Plan
  • Participate in project meetings
  • Conduct site visits and inspections of work in place
  • Assist teams with plan and constructability reviews
  • Read and understand specifications, reference codes, and standards
  • Review and interpret contract drawings
  • Provide training and coaching for project team members to identify key quality risks
  • Assist team with risk prevention planning and follow up
  • Work closely with the Quality and Construction Science Department to utilize technology for operational excellence and risk reduction
  • Act independently as CQCM while coordinating all QC functions to avoid construction delays
  • Determine, communicate, and document deficiencies, ensuring timely correction (NCR Log)
  • Maintain current records providing factual evidence of required QC activities and tests
  • Review shop drawings and submittals for conformance with project specifications and contract requirements
  • Initiate three-phase inspection process
  • Conduct daily observations to ensure all three phases of inspection are undertaken and documented
  • Examine work area to assure all required work has been completed and follows contract requirements
  • Conduct and Chair Preparatory Meetings
  • Chair and document weekly QC meetings with internal and external stakeholders
  • Verify and document that all project matters are in conformance with approved submittals, handled appropriately, and acceptable for use
  • Oversee daily and weekly QC/QA reports reinforcing conformance with established standards
  • Report all safety incidents, near hits, and hazards to management
  • Assist with administering the site safety program and ensuring Trade Partner compliance with OSHA standards

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years construction experience in quality control supervision
  • Minimum of 5 years industrial and/or commercial construction experience
  • Experience with large/complex quality plan implementation
  • In-depth knowledge of Construction Standards and Best Practices
  • Working knowledge of the International Building Code
  • Computer skills using Procore, Viewpoint, SharePoint, MS Office

Qualifications

  • An associate or undergraduate university degree or higher (preferably in Quality Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or a closely related field) is preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years of construction experience as a part of a quality control supervision and minimum of five (5) years industrial and/or commercial construction experience
