The Math Teaching Fellow will assist lead teachers in creating a positive learning environment, providing academic support, and contributing to a strong school culture at BASIS Independent Brooklyn Upper. This role is designed to develop future Lead Teachers by providing comprehensive experience in school operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist teachers with classroom management
- Provide student academic support and tutoring
- Assist classroom teachers with events, labs, and testing
- Work with teachers in evaluating student progress and gains
- Proctor assessments
- Monitor and manage student's non-scheduled time, including Early Bird and Late Bird supervision and Lunch Monitor responsibilities
- Monitor and manage study groups
- Coordinate homework and assignments for absent students
- Assist Directors of Student Affairs and Deans with managing behavior and discipline
- Assist Directors of Academic Programs with execution of key programs
Requirements
- Willingness to keep current in subject matter knowledge and BASIS Independent Schools teaching methodologies
- Strong belief in and adherence to the BASIS Independent Schools model
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to exercise excellent judgment and decision making
- Ability to work with diverse constituents while maintaining high professional standards
- Exemplary organizational skills; ability to establish and manage multiple priorities; ability to work under pressure
- Outstanding attention to detail and accuracy
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (early education preferred)
Nice to Have
- Strong communication skills
- Openness to new ideas in teaching methods
- Ability to obtain a fingerprint clearance card
