About This Role

Provide individualized college counseling to high school students, guide them through the college application process, and teach college admissions courses. Collaborate with faculty, parents, and administration to support students in achieving their college and career goals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized college counseling to eleventh and twelfth-grade students throughout the college application process
  • Write comprehensive and personalized letters of recommendation for twelfth graders
  • Work closely with applicants to develop standardized testing plans and application strategies
  • Provide feedback on student essays and applications
  • Teach the College Admissions Course to eleventh and twelfth-grade students
  • Present on college admissions topics and trends to students, parents, and faculty
  • Provide training and support to faculty on writing letters of recommendation
  • Collaborate with other college counseling team members, faculty, and school administration
  • Travel to visit colleges and network with college admissions officers
  • Maintain accurate student files and data, ensuring professional discretion

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Two years of experience in college counseling or college admissions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Comfort with public speaking
  • Superior writing ability
  • Positive attitude and ability to work diplomatically with various constituencies
  • Enthusiasm for building positive and healthy relationships with middle and high school students
  • Ability to support academic, social, and emotional growth of students
  • Experience with (or ability to learn) the SCOIR college search and application platform
  • Flexibility and comfort being part of a collaborative and innovative team environment
  • Obtain a fingerprint clearance card

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree is required; a master's degree (or higher) is preferred.
  • At least two years of experience in college counseling or college admissions

  • Master's degree or higher
  • Experience in and understanding of highly selective college admissions
