About This Role

Join Michigan Medicine's Interdisciplinary Pediatric Feeding Program as a Masters-level Psychologist to provide coordinated, interdisciplinary care for medically complex pediatric cases, including infants and children with feeding tubes and ARFID. This role involves leading case conceptualization, expanding treatment services for toddlers and older children with ARFID, and engaging in research and quality improvement projects.

Responsibilities

  • Staff the clinic treating infants born prematurely and with medical complexity discharged with a feeding tube
  • Provide care alongside a Registered Dietitian and an Occupational Therapist or Speech-Language Pathologist to support safe and developmentally appropriate feeding progression
  • Lead case conceptualization, preventing oral aversion by monitoring factors impacting infant's eating experience
  • Collaborate with medical providers to identify and address physiological barriers to oral feeding progression
  • Expand feeding treatment for toddlers and older children with Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)
  • Apply behavioral principles in a flexible, individualized manner, creatively tailoring strategies to meet family needs
  • Minimize stress on the child and family while promoting feeding progress
  • Develop group-based interventions, collaborate with pediatricians, and train other professionals
  • Support parents and caregivers, incorporating perinatal mental health principles
  • Engage in research and quality improvement projects to advance best practices in pediatric feeding care

Requirements

  • Master's degree in educational or clinical psychology
  • Eligibility for limited licensure as a Clinical Psychologist in the state of Michigan

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in educational or clinical psychology

  • Experience working with children with neurodivergence (e.g., ASD, ADHD) and an understanding of developmental norms
