About This Role

This position advocates for student success and serves as an industry liaison for the Manufacturing Technology program. It provides integrated support to students through case management, academic coaching, and career readiness while building and maintaining strategic partnerships with local manufacturing employers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual coaching to students on academic success strategies
  • Meet regularly with students to monitor progress, address barriers, and increase retention
  • Assist students in developing resumes and career plans
  • Connect students to COCC resources including Admissions and Records, CAP services, and other support systems
  • Coach students on job search strategies and provide ongoing support throughout the employment process
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local manufacturing employers to identify internship, apprenticeship, and employment opportunities
  • Create and implement systems for coordinating work-based learning placements
  • Organize recruitment events, site visits, and networking opportunities
  • Facilitate employer interviews and hiring processes for program graduates
  • Track and document student academic progress, completion rates, and employment outcomes
  • Monitor FIPSE grant expenditures to ensure benchmarks are met on schedule
  • Prepare and submit local, state, and federal reports as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in education, social work, psychology, counseling, or related field
  • Two years’ related experience in social services, career/workforce development, student affairs positions, and/or employment and training programs
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, database systems, email, website editing, and modern office equipment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in education, social work, psychology, counseling, or related field
  • 2+ years’ related experience in social services, career/workforce development, student affairs positions, and/or employment and training programs

Nice to Have

  • One year experience in workforce development programming
  • One year experience working in higher education
  • One year experience working on Federal, State, and/or local grants
  • One year experience providing career coaching and job readiness resources to individuals
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish
  • Experience working in a diverse multicultural setting
