This Manufacturing Engineer role at Northrop Grumman involves designing and improving manufacturing processes, production layouts, and equipment arrangements to ensure efficiency and product quality. The engineer will also guide design concepts, ensure regulatory compliance, and support fabrication efforts.
Responsibilities
- Design manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining, and material handling.
- Arrange equipment within plant facilities for efficient and productive layout.
- Design sequence of operations and specify procedures for tool and equipment fabrication.
- Incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
- Inspect equipment and tool performance, investigate, and initiate corrective actions for problems and deficiencies.
- Develop manufacturing processes applicable to statistical process control.
- Provide guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements.
- Ensure processes and procedures comply with regulations.
- Perform total productive maintenance, 6S Audit management, track yield, scrap, and parts consumption for fabrication efforts.
Requirements
- 2+ years of industry experience with a BS in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, or related STEM field
- Experience reading, interpreting, and revising engineering drawings
- Experience in computer assisted design software (SolidWorks/CATIA)
- Experience with creating Work Instructions, Visual Aids, and Bill of Materials within shop floor or MRP systems
- Experience dispositioning non-conformances
- Experience with Hands-On production support and training of personnel
Qualifications
- BS in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other related STEM Technical field
- Minimum 2 years industry experience
Nice to Have
- SAP MRP and Solumina experience
- IPC-620 and J-STD-001 Certification
- General understanding of continuous improvement, Six Sigma and Lean methodologies
- Experience with creating and setting up production and assembly lines and processes
- Experience with shop routing in a low-level kitting and assembly/processing environment
- Familiarity with Material Review Boards for product/quality deviation
