This role supports manufacturing operations by designing and implementing process and equipment layouts and improvements. The engineer will provide technical support, troubleshoot product issues, and evaluate manufactured products according to quality standards for Safran Seats.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support related to manufacturing
- Troubleshoot new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes
- Determine root causes of failures using statistical or lean methods and recommend changes
- Evaluate manufactured products according to specifications and quality standards
- Review product design for manufacturability or completeness
- Perform root cause analysis on non-conformance
- Define rework processes and manage some aspects of Non-conformance records
- Incorporate new methods and processes to improve existing operations
- Create or improve toolings and jigs to facilitate operations
- Manage tool control on the line, including ordering and registering new tools
- Lead projects of low-medium impact or complexity and assist with higher caliber projects
- Prepare documentation for new manufacturing processes or engineering procedures
- Purchase equipment, consumable, and non-consumable tools
- Train production personnel in new or existing methods
- Assist in the design, installation, or troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment
- Investigate or resolve operational problems such as material use variances or bottlenecks
- Prepare reports summarizing information or trends related to manufacturing performance
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of production methods, process capabilities, tooling processes, and manufacturing processes
- Capable of preparing well-written and orderly reports
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing and related operations with detailed knowledge of product design, engineering function, tool design, tool fabrication, ergonomics and EHS, space layout, handling equipment, production machinery and equipment, N/C machinery and equipment, factory methods work
- Strong knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and Operating Systems
- Ability to generate written communication and operate required office equipment
- Ability to read and review written communication
- Speech and hearing abilities to communicate clearly and distinctly in English
Qualifications
- B.S degree in a related technical field (e.g.: Industrial Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer/Technology, Aeronautics Engineer, or Electrical Engineer) or an Associate degree with 6 years related experience or 12 years of job related experience
- One to three years of manufacturing experience preferred but not required
Nice to Have
- Catia or design modeling experience
- Knowledge and experience in Lean Manufacturing principles
- APQP, D&PFMEA, Control Plan experience
- CATIA V.5, CAD Modeling experience
- Problem Solving skills
