About This Role

The Maintenance Worker performs a variety of maintenance duties including carpentry, grounds keeping, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and painting within a healthcare facility. This role ensures the proper operation and maintenance of the facility under the direction of the Facilities Management Director.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with repairs and installation of doors, windows, screens, wall siding, ceramic tiles, vinyl floor tiles, ceiling tiles, shelves, refinishing cabinets, hardwood floors
  • Measure and cut lumber and wallboard; fit lumber using hand and power tools; fasten materials into place using nails, screws, fasteners, and adhesives
  • Complete assigned preventive maintenance program duties and other preventive maintenance duties
  • Maintain hospital grounds by mowing grass, pruning, trimming, and planting trees, shrubs, and hedges
  • Spray seeded areas, trees, shrubs, flowers with herbicides, fungicides, insecticides to control weed, disease, and insects
  • Haul debris, sand, gravel, tools, supplies and other equipment using transport vehicles
  • Mix or use premixed cement for concrete repair purposes, pour and/or shovel wet cement into desired area; compact, even, rake, and finish surfaces
  • Shovel snow from steps, sidewalks and driveways of the hospital and grounds; apply salt or other ice control materials
  • Remove, replace, tighten, splice, solder, and insulate defective wiring and devices
  • Removes, cleans, replaces, packs, and seals defective parts of utility, supply and disposal systems; clear clogged drains
  • Complete all donning and doffing tasks in a safe acceptable method and discard of used PPE accordingly
  • Complete task training for all routine cleaning and decontamination processes for all surfaces contaminated by a communicable disease

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two (2) years of general work experience in Facilities Maintenance
  • Current, unrestricted, valid state driver's license
  • Ability to work independently
  • Detail-oriented and safety conscious
  • Excellent communication, organization, and prioritizing skills
  • Ability to read and write
  • Basic understanding of electrical circuitry and equipment
  • Basic understanding of plumbing and mechanical systems
  • Basic understanding of HVAC and refrigeration systems
  • Ability to recognize maintenance problems and determine basic repairs

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have two (2) years of general work experience in Facilities Maintenance
