Maintenance Worker

About This Role

Perform semi-skilled facility and grounds maintenance, construction, and repair work at St. Joe State Park and Missouri Mines State Historic Site. The role involves routine cleaning, vehicle/equipment maintenance, resource stewardship, and occasionally assisting with water/wastewater systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform semi-skilled work in facility maintenance, grounds maintenance, and the construction and repair of buildings and trail systems
• Conduct routine cleaning of structures and grounds
• Occasionally assist in the operation of water/wastewater systems
• Direct and perform facility maintenance and upkeep according to facility plans, including vehicle and equipment maintenance
• Execute routine preventive maintenance, grounds keeping, buildings and structures maintenance, infrastructure and tree trimming
• Perform some vehicle and equipment repairs on site
• Purchase operating supplies, parts and project materials as necessary, following procurement rules
• Communicate openly and effectively with the public, external stakeholders, supervisors and subordinates
• Assist with stewardship of natural and cultural resources, including controlled burns and invasive plant removal
• Maintain a working knowledge of park rules, regulations, procedures and policies, attending mandatory trainings

Requirements

• 1-3 years of experience in electrical, plumbing, concrete, masonry, carpentry, painting, plastering, or mechanical repair
• Ability to perform strenuous physical outdoor work in extreme or inclement weather conditions
• Ability to stand or walk on uneven terrain for extended periods
• Ability to lift, carry and load up to 50 pounds repeatedly
• Ability to bend, stoop, crawl, and work on elevated surfaces
• Ability to operate equipment for extended timeframes such as mowers, tractors, trimmers, backpack blowers
• Ability to climb ladders

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in electrical, plumbing, concrete, masonry, carpentry, painting, plastering, or mechanical repair
