Maintenance Technician I

About This Role

The Maintenance Technician I performs ordinary, labor-intensive tasks related to water and sewer system construction and maintenance. This role also assists operators and requires on-call duty for emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Perform ordinary, labor-intensive tasks commonly related to water and sewer system construction and maintenance
• Assist operator in any way necessary to complete the job
• Work on-call duty and respond at any hour during an emergency when requested
• Work as many hours as required to complete jobs
• Attend after-hours classes to renew or obtain required certifications/licenses when necessary
• Lift weights up to 100 pounds
• Understand and follow written and oral instructions
• Use all tools to accomplish the job in an efficient manner

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid Class "C" Driver's License or higher
• Ability to obtain valid Class B Commercial Driver's Permit within 90 days of hire
• Ability to obtain Texas Class "B" Commercial Driver's License within one year of hire
• Ability to obtain Class I sewer collection license within one year of hire
• Ability to obtain Class D water license within one year of hire
• Must be capable of reading, writing and communicating in English

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• One year of experience in Public Works preferred (entry-level role, 0 years required)
