The Maintenance Technician 1 performs preventive maintenance, troubleshoots equipment, and supports facility operations to ensure optimal performance and safety within a client's team in Troy, MI. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude and fabrication skills to work independently on various maintenance tasks.
Responsibilities
- Perform duties safely and troubleshoot equipment with minimal supervision.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance (PMs) and update maintenance management software.
- Apply general fabrication skills including welding (MIG & TIG), plasma cutting, and torch cutting.
- Read facility blueprints for equipment and production line layout.
- Disassemble and diagnose mechanical failures; perform necessary repairs.
- Apply plumbing and HVAC skills for facility and equipment maintenance.
- Maintain knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics for repairs.
- Safely operate forklifts and scissor lifts, and inventory maintenance supplies.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts by identifying and supporting process improvements.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Two years of technical training in industrial maintenance or building repair OR four years of experience as an Industrial Maintenance associate.
- Ability to read, write, and understand work instructions in English.
- Familiarity with operating power tools.
- Ability to safely perform job responsibilities.
- Flexibility in work hours and participation in on-call rotation.
