About This Role

The Maintenance Mechanic ensures all hospital facilities are functioning optimally and supports a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This role involves skilled maintenance, repairs, and preventive measures across the hospital campus.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize and promptly resolve urgent maintenance issues affecting safety, such as floods and electrical failures.
  • Complete all trouble calls like sink clogs and equipment resets, documenting actions taken.
  • Maintain and repair portable and fixed equipment including carts, dietary tools, dish machines, pneumatic systems, and disposals.
  • Handle non-licensed plumbing duties such as clearing blockages and minor leak repairs in accordance with state codes.
  • Fix doors, locks, ceilings, and minor roofing defects to uphold safety and aesthetics.
  • Perform scheduled inspections and upkeep of mechanical and fire protection systems, including weekly sprinkler valve checks.
  • Complete work orders such as furniture assembly and moving fixtures, aiming to resolve 80% within 60 days.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum of two years Maintenance Mechanic experience
  • Ability to read, write, and effectively communicate in English
  • Familiarity with common hand and power tools
  • Adherence to I C.A.R.E. Standards

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • A minimum of two years Maintenance Mechanic experience required and experience in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred.
