The Maintenance Mechanic sets up, repairs, rebuilds, and installs production equipment to ensure continuous production and minimize downtime. This role involves troubleshooting, planned maintenance, and training operators on equipment recognition and preventive maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Set up repairs, rebuild, and install production equipment to ensure continuous production
- Repair malfunctioning production equipment including fillers, conveyors, drives, coolers, palletizing, and boxing components
- Install new equipment or replace equipment as required and set up lines for product changeovers
- Serve as the primary technical leader on the shift responsible for planned maintenance, troubleshooting, and reducing downtime
- Train operators to recognize and report potential equipment malfunctions and assist with preventive maintenance
- Analyze mechanical and operational problems and initiate plans for corrective action
- Make necessary corrective repairs and running adjustments to maintain maximum production, safety, and quality
- Complete all PMs in a timely manner
- Work overtime as required
- Maintain good attendance and punctuality
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience as a line mechanic in a high-speed production environment
- Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild mechanical drives, pneumatics, pumps, valves, and conveyors
- Machining and fabrication skills
- Working knowledge of computers
- Ability to use machine shop equipment, hand tools, power tools, and test equipment
- Ability to read mechanical diagrams
- Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic controls and components
- Experience in pipe fitting, welding, and machining
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb, bend, stoop, and reach
- Ability to pass drug-screen and "fit for duty" exam
- Authorized to work in the US
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience as a line mechanic in a high-speed production environment
Nice to Have
- Technical School preferred
- Food manufacturing/bottling experience preferred
- Previous experience with TPM or Lean Manufacturing
