Loss Prevention Associate

About This Role

This role is responsible for deterring internal and external theft while ensuring a safe and pleasant shopping experience for customers and a positive work environment for associates. The Loss Prevention Associate maintains a highly visible presence at the store entrance and communicates with staff regarding security and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a professional and assertive visual presence as a theft deterrence to customers and associates
• Develop rapport with employees to foster a positive environment of honesty and integrity
• Adhere to schedule as provided by District Loss Prevention Manager (DLPM)
• Wear company issued Loss Prevention vest or jacket during scheduled shift
• Maintain a highly visible position at the store entrance during assigned shift
• Greet and acknowledge all customers and associates entering and exiting the store
• Act as a deterrent only, not to directly engage, confront, or follow customers suspected of theft outside the store
• Observe and report all theft incidents or suspected theft to manager on duty and DLPM
• Maintain open communication with all store associates and team leaders
• Support store in maintaining company standards related to security and safety procedures
• Direct store on completing “Store Theft Reports” when required
• Participate in the store's loss prevention and safety programs
• Conduct store tours and audits as directed by DLPM
• Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism
• Ensure front entrance is clean and safe for all shoppers
• Conduct bag checks as per company’s guidelines

Requirements

• Ability to handle difficult situations with diplomacy
• Ability to follow directions
• Ability to maintain consistent standards using judgment and discretion
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, and listen attentively
• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel on a frequent basis
• Ability to lift 25 lbs
• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
