About This Role

This role supports a joyful community by assisting in coordinating and implementing resident activity programs, including one-to-one programming and special events. The Assistant ensures activities run smoothly and maintains equipment and supplies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in carrying out assigned activity programs as identified in the monthly calendar
  • Provide one-to-one programming for residents who cannot participate in a group setting
  • Assist in decorating for holidays and carrying out special events
  • Coordinate with the Activities Director and staff to assist residents to and from activities and events
  • Maintain equipment and supplies, organizing storage areas in an orderly and clean manner
  • Assist in carrying out activities and events in the absence of the Activities Director
  • Assist with quarterly special events that include residents, families, friends, and the community at large
  • Work with community resources and contacts to enhance the quality of life for residents
  • Encourage family & staff involvement in activity programs and/or other events
  • Attend and participate in required meetings and trainings

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a criminal background and fingerprint check
  • Maintains current food handlers card
  • Demonstrates basic computer knowledge and ability
  • Has compassion and a special interest in working with the senior population
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and overtime
  • Ability to relate positively and communicate appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other employees
  • Maintains clean, neat, comfortable, safe environment
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • First Aid and CPR
  • Meets all mandatory health requirements by State regulations
  • Ability to work independently

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Nice to Have

  • Completed a state certified activities training program
  • One or more years of direct programming experience with older adults
