Licensed Psychologist PRN

About This Role

This role involves conducting psychological screenings and assessments, providing treatment to inmates, and collaborating with a mental health team to ensure integrated patient care. The psychologist will develop and modify treatment plans, make rounds in confined areas, and respond to inmates in crisis.

Responsibilities

• Conduct psychological screenings and assessments based on records and clinical interviews with inmates
• Confer with clinical staff to gather and provide information concerning patient psychological problems and ensure integrated treatment activities
• Provide treatment to inmates by developing, implementing, and modifying individual treatment plans
• Make regular rounds in segregation or other confined housing areas to assess inmate adjustment and mental health treatment needs
• Demonstrate thorough knowledge of psychological counseling theory and techniques
• Provide appropriate mental health assessments, counseling, and confrontation avoidance interventions to address inmates in crisis
• Consult with psychiatry, mental health, nursing, medical, educational, chaplain, and security staff to understand reasons for escalated problem behaviors and changes in inmate mental health condition

Requirements

• Doctoral degree in Psychology
• Current, unrestricted license to practice psychology in the state where practice occurs
• 2 years clinical experience
• 1 year in a comparable position
• Valid driver's license
• Must be at least 18 years of age
