The Academic Instructor provides education in basic subjects to inmates/students, helping them develop essential skills for responsible citizenship. This role involves maintaining a positive, secure learning environment and developing appropriate lesson plans.
Responsibilities
- Provide instruction in basic education subjects such as mathematics, science, social studies, reading, writing, and language arts
- Help inmates/students learn skills that contribute to their development as mature, responsible citizens
- Maintain a positive learning environment
- Adopt secure classroom management practices
- Develop level-appropriate lesson plans
- Prepare course objectives following curriculum standards and applicable requirements by contract
- Plan a program of study, lesson plans, assignments, and tests under general supervision
- Provide instruction using course outline, handouts and texts, audiovisual aids, and other materials
- Administer tests to evaluate students' progress and competency with subject matter
- Assist students with individualized instruction as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Experience in Microsoft Office applications
- A valid driver's license
- Minimum age of 21

- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
Nice to Have
- A teaching license
- Three years of classroom instruction experience
