This role provides prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities under the direction of an RN or physician. The LPN will complete health assessments, monitor medications, and provide training for staff and individuals, while supporting their well-being and independence.
Responsibilities
- Provide basic care and medical treatment to individuals receiving services
- Complete health assessments and provide input for nursing care plans
- Follow-up on physician orders and monitor medical/dental appointments
- Monitor and record medications in a timely manner; act as a liaison to pharmacy
- Review medication error forms, analyze errors, and recommend procedural changes
- Oversee and monitor staff who administer medication
- Conduct quality assurance checks on health care records
- Provide emergency coverage and/or care for individuals receiving services
- Maintain confidentiality, respect human rights, and practice universal precautions
- Provide training for staff on medication administration, universal precautions, and infection control
Requirements
- Associates degree in nursing or related field or state certificate
- One year experience working with population served in a nursing capacity
- Current LPN/LVN licensure for state of residence
