Direct Support Professional

About This Role

Provide direct support and assistance to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, focusing on daily living activities, health maintenance, and community integration to help them live well and achieve independence.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support for daily living activities including personal care, housekeeping, and recreational activities
• Assist with transportation, community integration, shopping, and financial management for individuals served
• Document progress, activity, and changes in service plans accurately while maintaining confidentiality
• Administer medication or support self-administration, documenting delivery and reporting errors promptly
• Monitor individuals' health, document concerns, and communicate with nurses or supervisors as appropriate
• Prepare meals according to planned menus, individual choice, and special dietary requirements
• Maintain healthy and professional relationships with individuals, families, guardians, and case managers
• Report instances of alleged abuse or neglect and medical/behavioral incidents according to standards
• Work scheduled hours, arrive on time, and notify supervisors in advance if unable to work
• Perform daily and seasonal housekeeping, ensuring a neat, clean, and safe environment

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age
• Driver's License for at least 1 year (post-permit)
• Clean driving record that meets Sevita's insurability policy
• Valid driver’s license in good standing

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Six months of experience in human services preferred.
