Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

About This Role

Provide direct nursing care to residents and supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants in a long-term care facility. Ensure quality care is maintained in accordance with federal, state, and local standards.

Responsibilities

• Direct the day-to-day functions of nursing assistants
• Ensure nursing personnel comply with facility policies and procedures
• Review department policies, manuals, and job descriptions; recommend revisions
• Plan shifts' services, programs, and activities with assigned nursing staff
• Make written and oral reports/recommendations concerning shift activities
• Cooperate with other resident services to coordinate nursing care
• Participate in the facility’s quality assurance program for nursing services
• Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as required
• Complete and file required recordkeeping forms/charts upon admission, transfer, or discharge
• Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician

Requirements

• Current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an LPN/LVN in this state
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
• Knowledge of nursing and medical practices pertaining to long-term care

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved LPN/LVN program
