Level 1 Veterinary Assistant

About This Role

Provide exceptional client service and assist veterinarians and technicians with animal restraint, patient triaging, procedures, and maintaining a clean environment. This role contributes to the well-being of animals and supports the hospital's operations.

Responsibilities

• Provide clients with a top-notch experience
• Assist veterinarians and technicians with animal restraint and procedures
• Triage incoming patients
• Maintain a clean and sterile work environment
• Stock the hospital
• Measure and assess patient vital signs
• Run diagnostic lab work
• Provide aftercare for deceased animals
• Perform surgery prep and assist in life-saving surgical procedures

Requirements

• Genuine love of and respect for all animals and appreciation of the human-animal bond
• Strong desire to problem solve and help others
• Excellent client service and teamwork skills
• Experience or education equivalent to a High School Diploma
• Understanding of animal behavior and knowledge of safe animal handling and transport practices
• 1+ year experience working in animal care (veterinary clinic, kennel, shelter, or grooming facility)

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1+ year experience working in animal care (veterinary clinic, kennel, shelter, grooming facility) or equivalent experience/education
