Lead Diesel Mechanic

About This Role

Lead Diesel Mechanics oversee day-to-day shop operations, supervise maintenance work, and ensure the company fleet adheres to DOT compliance. They are responsible for accurately maintaining service and parts records.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Health and Safety as the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes
• Perform preventative maintenance, conduct inspections, troubleshoot, diagnose failures & deficiencies, and perform necessary corrections
• Conduct offsite road repairs and service calls
• Complete daily checklist as required for proper operation of the unit being operated
• Assure unit has daily maintenance duties performed and communicate any problems or issues immediately upon discovery
• Complete and submit all associated paperwork as required for tracking PM schedules
• Conduct Safety Checks & Annual Vehicle Inspections in accordance with provincial & federal laws
• Assure that Equipment is properly parked in compliance with facility permit and DOT requirements
• Ensure that work meets all applicable Health and Safety Standard Operating Procedures
• Maintain a clean work environment

Requirements

• 5-7 years of diesel engine experience
• 1+ years DOT inspection experience
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Proficient in all aspects of diesel mechanics: electrical, computer, ECMs, fuel, air systems, ABS, hydraulic systems, engines
• Proficient in diagnostic, repair, and maintenance of heavy duty forklift, roll off truck, forklifts, pick up trucks, box trucks, tractors, and tankers
• Proficient in tooling and equipment diagnostic, repair, and maintenance
• Ability to pass a background, drug, and physical test upon hire

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of diesel engine experience, 1+ years DOT inspection experience
