Lactation Consultant RN - Per Diem

About This Role

This role involves collaborating with Education Consultants and managers to develop, design, deliver, and evaluate educational strategies and special programs. The Lactation Consultant RN will implement education programs to meet regulatory requirements and organizational needs, serving as an expert resource for staff.

Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate, and evaluate programs to meet regulatory requirements and organizational, departmental, and discipline-specific needs
• Design, develop, and coordinate activities for continuing professional education for staff
• Collaborate with consultants to develop special projects in professional education, development, and learning
• Communicate and market education programs to a broad target audience using appropriate methods
• Participate in classroom instruction on developed projects
• Make recommendations for cost/quality strategies and work within budget
• Serve as expert resource to staff and departments in defining and meeting educational, clinical, quality, and cost outcomes and performance measures
• Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate/improve the orientation, cross-training, and education/competency processes/systems for clinical staff
• Respond to corporate and industry changes in clinical practice and professional education
• Ensure compliance and documentation of organizational records based on regulatory agency standards

Requirements

• Previous teaching experience or previous recent experience in in-service education in clinical service area (2-5 years)
• Bachelors degree or equivalent experience (4 years) in education
• High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED)
• Registered Nurse License (California)
• International Board Lactation Consultant Examiners Certificate within 12 months of hire
• Experience in breast-feeding education and postpartum and/or mother-baby
• Knowledge of Standards of Care pertinent to breast-feeding education
• Adult learning knowledge
• Demonstrated ability to utilize interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and group facilitator/process skills
• Computer literacy

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree or equivalent experience (usually 4 years) in education required, and High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
• 2-5 years of teaching experience or recent experience in in-service education in clinical service area
