Laboratory Assistant

About This Role

This Laboratory Assistant position performs all processing functions including centrifugation, aliquoting, and sample placement. The role also involves conducting a limited number of laboratory analyses and quality control testing under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform all processing functions including centrifugation, aliquoting, and placing samples in correct racks and receiving batches
• Perform a limited number of laboratory analyses and quality control testing under close supervision
• Create batches for reference laboratory and prepare samples for testing
• Receive specimens from couriers/transport personnel and ready them for analysis
• Add on tests for existing samples and handle test cancelation requests
• Answer phone in a professional manner and provide information for customers
• Prepare and transmit reports accurately for customers
• Perform laboratory testing under the direct supervision of the Charge Technologist for urine dipstick testing, stool occult blood testing, and kit testing
• Draw blood specimens from patients (Webster Campus only)
• Help in any department that may require assistance

Requirements

• High School Degree

Qualifications

• High School Degree, preferred with strong background in the sciences
• Previous experience in a laboratory setting is preferred.
