Kitchen Supervisor

About This Role

Oversee the handling and preparation of food, perform general cooking duties, and ensure food quality, safety, and sanitation for a university's dining services. Support the Sous Chef in managing kitchen operations and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist in overseeing staff in assigned area
• Perform general cooking and/or baking duties
• Lead continuous training in food preparation techniques, safety, and quality control
• Assist Sous Chef in testing and implementing new recipes
• Assist Sous Chef with menu development
• Ensure high food quality following established regulations and guidelines, including tasting food for quality control
• Perform other preparation and sanitation duties as required
• Lead the preparation of bakery and station items from scratch

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Manager ServSafe certified or obtains certification within twelve (12) months of hire
• Two (2) years of related cooking and/or baking experience

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Two (2) years of related cooking and/or baking experience

Nice to Have

• Technical training in commercial food service
• Undergraduate or advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
• Culinary degree or certificate from a culinary arts program
• Previous lead or supervisor experience in a restaurant or food service location
• Previous experience in an institutional or commercial operation
