About This Role

Assist chefs by maintaining cleanliness, organization, and safety of all catering areas within a luxury retirement village, ensuring seamless culinary operations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare simple meals and ancillary items for service under the direction of the Chef
  • Wash dishes by hand or load the dishwasher, store clean items neatly and safely
  • Sweep and mop kitchen floors to ensure they are free from grease or spillage
  • Wash work tables, walls, kitchen equipment and appliances, adhering to cleaning schedules
  • Operate kitchen equipment and transfer this safely between storage and work areas
  • Ensure the kitchen is kept tidy and left secure, rubbish is removed, and supplies are put away
  • Adhere to company Food Safety and Health and Safety policies at all times, maintaining all records outlined in the HACCP policy

Requirements

  • Understanding of Health and Safety
  • Knowledge of maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment
  • Organized and adaptable
  • Capable of working effectively within a team and independently

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a catering department or kitchen is beneficial, some experience working in a care environment and managing stock, ability to prepare simple meals.

Nice to Have

  • Up-to-date CIEH Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Prior experience in a catering department or kitchen
