Junior Nursing Aide

About This Role

The Junior Nursing Aide provides direct patient observation and basic care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and Clinical Coordinator. This role is a member of the treatment team, contributing to a therapeutic environment and interacting with all healthcare team members.

Responsibilities

• Perform direct patient observation and provide basic physical patient care
• Observe and record the general condition of patients
• Obtain various specimens (urine, sputum, stool) and perform specific tests (hemoccult, sugar and acetone)
• Notify Registered Nurse of any significant changes in patient's condition
• Identify and communicate changes in patient's clinical status to the treatment team
• Respond to emergency situations by securing assistance
• Assist in escorting patients to and from diagnostic tests and therapeutic services
• Meet patient needs for comfort and safety, including orientation to surroundings
• Assist in admissions, discharge, obtaining vital signs, weights, and fulfilling hygiene needs
• Maintain general cleanliness of the physical area and ensure protection of patient belongings
• Participate in the development and implementation of multidisciplinary treatment plans
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment by enforcing program rules and regulations

Requirements

• Good knowledge of accepted standards for patient care and comfort
• Good knowledge of entry-level medical and psychiatric terminology
• Skill in customer service related to care delivery
• Ability to observe and describe facts and events accurately
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships
• Good judgment and tact
• Computer literacy sufficient to perform duties
