This role offers comprehensive inpatient-based internal medicine locum work at Cowichan District Hospital, a 148-bed acute care facility in the process of expansion. It involves consultative services, directive patient care, electrodiagnostic interpretation, and participation in a paid on-call schedule for high-volume, high-acuity cases.
Responsibilities
- Participate in inpatient-based internal medicine locum work
- Provide consultative services and directive care on medical and surgical wards
- Perform electrodiagnostic procedures (stress testing, ECG, Holter interpretation)
- Perform MRP work (Most Responsible Physician) in the 7-bed ICU
- Participate in a paid on-call schedule
- Teach medical students and residents in family practice and internal medicine
Requirements
- High degree of comfort with a broad range of internal medicine problems, cardiology, and critical care
