Intern - Engineer

About This Role

This internship provides students with hands-on experience in energy, mechanical, building, service, sustainability, sales, or project management by offering drafting and engineering support to the Mesa Energy Systems Engineering Group.

Responsibilities

• Perform various tasks assigned by Mechanical Drafters, Mechanical Engineers, Senior Engineers, and the Engineering Manager/Director
• Develop knowledge to draft and develop detailed schematics for Mechanical systems based on instructions and pre-established guidelines
• Assist Mechanical Engineers by participating in job site surveys to gather as-built technical information
• Assist Mechanical Engineers by soliciting technical information from Manufacturers/Vendors and the Internet
• Develop knowledge to draft and develop layouts for mechanical systems based on direction from Mechanical Engineers
• Develop knowledge to convert field surveys into usable formats for plan and project development
• Learn and use AutoCAD to develop plans
• Develop knowledge to participate in the company’s project improvement process by maintaining/improving CAD Detail Library and CAD Standards
• Copying/printing/scanning, assembly of equipment submittal packages, assistance in preparing work scope

Requirements

• Currently attending college with a major in Mechanical Engineering
• Computer-savvy, willing and able to understand and learn new software programs
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Ability to communicate clearly, manage time effectively, multitask, & prioritize

Qualifications

• Currently attending college with a major in Mechanical Engineering and will be conferred within 2 years

Nice to Have

• Enrollment in formal AutoCAD/REVIT Drafting training/certification is recommended
• Develop knowledge of Permitting submittal requirements in the Mechanical field
• Developing proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office Suite, and other related software applications
• Will support and develop knowledge of HVAC Systems and Components (Hot Water, Chilled Water, Condensing Water, Chillers, Fans, Heat Pumps, etc.)
