Interior Designer

About This Role

Seeking a creative and detail-driven Interior Designer with 10-15 years of professional experience to work on educational, civic, and institutional projects. This role requires strong design sensibility, technical expertise, and collaborative skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage interior projects from concept through construction documentation
• Perform finish and material selection
• Coordinate furniture and fixtures (FF&E)
• Integrate lighting design
• Ensure code compliance, accessibility, and life safety standards
• Prepare presentations, specifications, and construction documentation
• Coordinate with architects and consultants

Requirements

• 10-15 years of professional experience in interior design
• Strong background in design fundamentals, space planning, and environmental psychology
• NCIDQ certification
• Registered Interior Designer in North Carolina (or eligible for reciprocity)
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite
• Proven ability to manage interiors from concept through construction documentation
• Excellent communication and organizational skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture from a CIDA accredited program or a Pre-Professional Degree or Technical degree from a community college in Interior Architecture
• 10 to 15 years of professional experience in interior design and interior architecture, ideally within architecture firms or multidisciplinary environments

Nice to Have

• LEED AP or WELL AP certification
• Familiarity with SketchUp, Enscape, or Lumion
• Active Professional Association (IIDA, ASID) involvement
