Instructional Design Specialist

About This Role

This role supports department leadership and staff in developing and implementing technical, pedagogical, and accessible digital courses. The specialist will work collaboratively to review online and hybrid courses based on university policies and provide general support to faculty during digital course design, development, and facilitation.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for faculty teaching, using technologies, developing, and revising digital courses
• Support the Academic Web Accessibility team to design, develop, and implement accessible learning
• Support instructional designers in sustainable course design initiatives
• Support the creation and delivery of professional faculty development resources
• Support the creation and maintenance of educational web resources for faculty/staff
• Assist with service requests for instructional technology, pedagogy, learning resources, etc.
• Assist with course reviews based on Quality Matters and college-based review policies

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Technical Communications or Educational related field
• One (1) year of related work experience in teaching, technical writing, instructional design, learning/technology center, or corporate training
• Experience with at least one learning management system such as D2L Brightspace, Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle, etc.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Instructional Design, Technical Communications or Educational related field
• One (1) year of related work experience in a teaching, technical writing, instructional design, learning or technology center, or corporate training

Nice to Have

• Advanced degree in a related field
• Previous experience in higher education and technology-enhanced teaching and learning
• Knowledge and experience with Desire2Learn Brightspace
• Experience developing and reviewing digital courses in higher education
