Inpatient Unit Clerk

About This Role

The Inpatient Unit Clerk provides excellent customer service to patients and offers clerical support to nurses and doctors at the Women's Birth Center within Michigan Medicine. This role is communication-heavy, requiring strong interpersonal, written, and verbal skills to work effectively within a team.

Responsibilities

• Utilize extensive on-the-job training to complete tasks
• Admit, transfer, and discharge patients in the Women's Birth Center
• Receive and assist patients and visitors, providing excellent customer service
• Answer patient calls in a professional and timely manner
• Respond to emergent situations in a calm and professional manner; utilizing predefined processes
• Procure supplies, equipment, and services for patients
• Maintain census information
• Monitor infant security system
• Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with staff

Requirements

• Completion of a High School Diploma or equivalent

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
